Monk fruit is a small sub-tropical melon that is cultivated in the remote mountains of Southern China. The extract of the fruit is nearly 300 times sweeter than sugar and can be used as a low-calorie sweetener which makes it a desirable substitute for sugar in the food and beverage products.
